Abstract:N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) is one of amino acid derivatives that exists in the body of animals and plays an important role in participating the effect of regulating secretion of hypothalamuic-putuitary-growth axis. The experiment was concluded to study the effect of NMDA on gene expression and secretion of somatostatin(SS) in the cultured rat(Rattus norvegicus) hypothalamus neuron cell and approached to mechanism of this process. Results showed that NMDA could significantly increase the gene expression and secretion of SS. Furthermore, NMDA could enhance the level of intracellular Ca2+ and reduce the cAMP obviously, which suggested that NMDA regulates SS secretion and gene expression by Ca2+ and cyclic adenosine monophosphate(cAMP) in hypothalamus neuron cells.
