Abstract R2R3-MYB transcription factors play a crucial regulatory role in a series of plant biological processes, and is involved in the growth and development, synthesis of primary and secondary metabolites, and hormone signaling of fruit and vegetable plants. R2R3-MYB transcription factors are targeted by researchers, which can promote the creation of new consumer products and the development of the fruit and vegetable industry. This review summarized the gene structure characteristics of R2R3-MYB transcription factor family members, and discussed their regulatory roles in the formation of fruit and vegetable qualities, and their molecular regulatory mechanisms were described, in which the directions to future research were suggested.
