Abstract The phytohormone abscisic acid (ABA) is not only involved in the plant abiotic stress response but also plays a major role in the regulation of various biotic stress responses. ABA negatively regulates plant biotic resistance which is through the interaction with the signal transductions of slicylic acid, jasmonic acid and ethylene, and shared components in pathogen-related signaling. In this paper, we review the signal transduction of ABA and its regulatory role in biotic responses.
