Abstract Reproductive traits are important economic traits in sheep. This review introduced bone morphogenetic protein receptor IB, bone morphogenetic protein 15 and growth differentiation factor 9 genes and their relationships with high prolificacy in sheep, and application of both FecB and FecXI genes.
