Translationally Controlled Tumour Protein (TCTP) and Growth Regulation of Cells |

Abstract The translationally controlled tumour protein (TCTP) is a highly conserved protein and appears to be widely expressed in all eukaryotic organisms. TCTP is a multifunctional protein, including many cellular processes, e.g. cytoskeleton regulation, cell growth and proliferation, apoptosis, tumor reversion, cell differentiation, inflammatory response and protection of cells against various stress conditions. TCTP is also a transcription factor for pluripotency genes Oct4 and Nanog. This review focuses on TCTP expression regulation and its biological functions.
