| Progress on major genes or quantitative trait locus(QTL) for carcass trait in sheep |

Abstract It is known that the performance of meat sheep is controlled by some major genes or quantitative trait lacus(QTL). So a field in these genes and their mechanism on some important traits is a focus for genetic and animal breeding specialists all over the world. Some recent advances on major genes or quantitative trait lacus (QTL) for carcass traits were reviewed in the article ,such as Callipyge ,Carwell, double muscling and other QTL affecting muscle development. Furthermore, some opinions and resolution of some problems in the research concerned was put forward in the article.
