Abstract Alternative splicing is an important cellular mechanism that increases the diversity of gene products. The study of alternatively spliced genes reported so far in plants is far less than that in mammals. But considerable results was also reported in regulating mechanisms， influencing factors，specificities and function of alternative splicing in plant. Here, progresses on alternative splicing in plants are briefly summarized.
